Munchy’s held a red New Year party recently to celebrate its ranking as the country’s No.1 home-grown biscuit brand, as rated by market research company AC Nielsen. The rating was based on the biscuit manufacturer’s corporate share value from June 2006 to July 2008. Its chief executive officer, CK Tan, said Munchy’s was also awarded the Best Brand Strategy by the Brand Laureate, a yearly award to honour brand excellence.
Professional party planners, Allan Yap and Nigel Skelchy of Just Heavenly, were there to share their party-planning secrets and easy-to-do table settings for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day using flowers, fruits and candles. The art of hamper wrapping to create the ideal festive gift was also demonstrated in a hands-on session. To show that Munchy’s can be more than a biscuit, chef Oo Tha of Passion Road restaurant demonstrated how to make a unique party starter using Munchy’s Lite Cream Cracker, mashed roasted sweet potatoes, pineapples, walnuts and pecans. Munchy’s was incorporated in 1991 and the brand has over 40 types of biscuits, wafers and wafer sticks.
